Description

On 1 May, 2010, the AANS became the first North American medical association to hold an entirely paperless annual scientific conference and trade show.

Their Annual Meeting features the latest scientific and technological advances in neurological surgery and research. Consistent with the association's continuing efforts both to advance the specialty and enhance member's meeting experience, each medical attendee accessed every aspect of the Annual Meeting, including program guides, floor maps, exhibitor listings, social venues and communicated in ways that have never before been possible.

For the first time ever, attendees will be able to receive up-to-the-minute meeting updates, interact in real-time with speakers and panelists, communicate peer-to-peer with other attendees, watch educational video presentations, and listen to podcast interviews by colleagues who have made groundbreaking breakthroughs in the field.

The AANS conference application was built using Parliant's Conference Companion, an iPod touch/iPhone application.

Parliant's Conference Companion© can be re-skinned and filed with data for your conference in a few weeks.

WARNING!
While the application is small, the conference data is massive (between 0.5 and 1 GB) The first time you run the application it will download all the conference data. On a Wi-Fi network that first download can take more than 20 minutes for the hundreds of papers, PPTs, videos, etc. Be sure you are on a Wi-Fi network and not using 3G. This data is stored on the device so the subsequent times you run the app it will start instantly, then in the background, check with the server for data updates. Due to varying internet performance some downloads may time out and stop. Just relaunch the app and it will recommence the download from where it left off.
