Description

AS SEEN IN APPLE’S iPAD TV ADS

“Movie★Slate® is the the Rolls-Royce of slates” says HandHeldHollywood.com. A convenient, all-in-one digital slate, clapper board, shot log, and notepad is used for film, TV, documentaries, music videos, and interviews, this professional production tool is the easy way to log footage and take notes as you shoot— saving you valuable time later when capturing/editing footage, and creating reports. All at a mere fraction of a bulky digital clapperboard’s cost.

DIGITAL SLATE

Tap a field to edit production info. Choose info from default/custom snippets, contacts, or saved history. Enter new info with the keyboard. Use the optimized keypad to quickly enter numeric info like: roll, scene, take, timecode. Or swipe up/down on fields to increment/decrement numbers.

TIMECODE

Setting timecode is simple and fast using our specialized keypad. Sync timecode to the clock, or between multiple iOS Devices (iPad/iPhone/iPod touch) via Bluetooth-- or with a song from your iTunes music library (for use in “Music Video” mode).

TIMECODE SYNC PLUGIN (optional in-app purchase)

Co-developed with Denecke. Sync timecode with compatible cameras, sound recorders, LTC generators via the headphone jack. Sync timecode over WiFi with Timecode Buddy hardware. Sync timecode, slate data, and chat messages over WiFi between multiple MovieSlates.

MULTICAM PLUGIN (optional in-app purchase)

Simultaneously log data and shot notes for up to 26 cameras.

SOUND DEPARTMENT PLUGIN (optional in-app purchase)

Sound Mixers can easily log all sound department meta data, and quickly generate comprehensive Sound Reports.

CLAPPER BOARD

To begin a shot, photograph the slate’s production info, then tap the clapper sticks. The sticks open and clap closed, creating an audible/visible marker. All slate data is logged to history. Optional credits animations briefly display each production field, full screen.

SHOT MARKER/NOTES, VOICE/IMAGE NOTES

For each shot, you can: circle a take; ★-rate sound/picture quality; write multiple shot notes; record voice notes; take picture notes. Example: when shooting interviews you can create notes to timecode-mark when a particular question was asked, or something remarkable was said. Enter notes using the microphone, camera, keyboard— or insert snippet phrases (such as “Interview”, “Question”, or “Tail Sticks”).

SHOT LOG HISTORY

Get fast, searchable access to shot info, without wading through hours of footage. Each shot, all production, GPS location, and timecode data is stored to a Shot Log History, where you can view, edit, or ★-rate shots. History/Notes can be exported/emailed as: HTML, XML, Final Cut 7/X, Avid ALE, Adobe Prelude/Premiere, CSV, and TAB formats.

HAVE IT YOUR WAY

Customize MovieSlate’s behavior and appearance to suit your workflow and tastes. Choose behaviors, sounds, and themes (clapper stick designs, backgrounds, fonts, and colors)— even display your production logo on the slate and in reports.

READY WHEN YOU ARE

Version 4.02 (Mar 20, 2013)

• Bug fixes

• New! MultiCam Plugin can simultaneously log data and notes for up to 26 cameras. The MultiCam plugin can now be enabled from MovieSlate’s Settings > MovieSlate Store. Several User Guide chapters describe the MultiCam Plugin in detail: MovieSlate > Help > User Guide.

• Timecode Sync plugin - now using a new LTC engine jointly developed by Denecke and PureBlend. When receiving timecode via headphone jack: drift is greatly reduced; timecode is more accurate; frame rate recognition is extremely reliable (no longer requiring confirmation); and timecode can be acquired even at very low external decibel levels. LTC latency has been dramatically reduced, so you probably need to change Settings > Timecode, Sync, Chat > Calibrate LTC Lag to zero. Added "Auto-Receive LTC" and "Auto-Jam LTC" ON/OFF switches to Settings > Timecode, Sync, Chat > WiFi & Headphone Jack.

• New! Chat System is part of the Timecode/Sync plugin. Chat with other MovieSlates found on the local WiFi network; no internet necessary.

• Camera - added fields: "Camera Operator" and "Camera Color".

• Slate - now fills the entire iPhone 5 screen.

• Slate - keypad changes: added "P/U" (pickup) and "SER" (serial) buttons to keypad when editing TAKE; added "R/S" (reshoot) button to keypad when editing SCENE; CAM field is now limited to a single A-Z CAM letter.

• Slate - added clapperstick MOS label and corresponding option: Settings > Slate Behavior > Clapper Behavior > Always > Clapperstick Label for MOS.

• Slate - Focus Charts are now optimized for iPad retina displays.

• Notes editor - added button to choose a note’s background color; made several layout improvements; Snippet Groups are now displayed faster in a popover menu.

• Snippet Groups - added Use Chosen Group as this Field’s Default option when changing snippet groups.

• Settings > Field Input Styles - added new Filename input styles & editor which provides many more options than the original "Sequential" and "Scene/Take" filename formats.

• Settings > Shot Log History - added Logger Info fields (required for logging shot log history).

• Settings > Shot Log History > Marker/Notes - added Default Note Color.

• Settings > Shot Log History > Sound Report > Sort By - added Date field.

• Settings > Shot Log History > Sound Report - added Report Contents setting, and added new field options.

• Reports - Formatted HTML, Sound, MultiCam - note rows reflect marker note color.

• History Reports - added new MultiCam Report as part of the MultiCam plugin.

• History Reports - added new Prelude Marker Notes format— to save MovieSlate notes in XMP files for import into Adobe® Prelude™ CS6 and newer.

• History Reports, Sound Reports - when sent with image attachments, image notes now include elegant links to the images. Sound Report scope can now be set to multiple sound rolls.

• History Reports, Sound Reports & HTML Reports - when sent with image attachments, image notes now include elegant links to the images. Sound Report scope can now be set to multiple sound rolls.

• History Reports, Avid export - fixed several issues. Also, in ALE and Locator files, shots are now prefixed with "CLIP" (SingleCam clip) and "SEQ" (MultiCam sequence).

• History Reports, Final Cut Pro 7 XML export - shots are now organized into a hierarchy of Clip/Sequence/Project/Roll bins; and “roll_scene_take” is no longer appended to media filenames— making it possible for Adobe Premiere to import FCP7 XML and relink clips.

• History Reports, Final Cut Pro X XML export - added support for MultiCam shots; shots now include starting timecode data; shots can be connected to clips (just make sure that the XML file is in the same folder as the media clip files)
