Description

“Well Control” is the drilling, stimulation, coiled tubing personnel best companion.
Calculate on the fly:

1- Well pressure stability
2- Kick killing pressures, kick fluid property, maximum expected wellhead pressure.
3- Casing/DP Running and POOH swab and surge pressures due to turbulence, pipe run, pipe acceleration etc..
4- NaCl, KCl, NHCl4 and CaCl2 brine mixing
5- Dilution/Weighting of drilling fluids using lighter/heavier fluid.
6- Weighting mud fluids using Hematite, Barite or Sand.
7- Calculates hole capacity - DP, Annulus, Rat Hole capacities (can be used to calculate any type of well profile)

Hydrostatic/Gradient Pressure Calculation Module

The module runs as a calculator / convertor between density, frac gradient, pore gradient, hydrostatic pressure, frac pressure and pore pressure.
All parameters (either inputs or outputs) can be synthesized using the sliders/textfields for quick and accurate calculation.

Well Control Calculation Module (scrollable screen)

The Well Control module uses the “Well Profile” module’s data along with remaining data entered in the form to compute the kick height at different depths, the kick fluid density at different depths, the Casing Pressure while circulating the kick out.
The module uses the two main techniques of kick control:
Driller technique, which uses same density mud to circulate the kick out.
The Weight and Wait technique, which uses a weighted mud to circulate the kick out.

Swab and Surge Calculation Module (scrollable screen)

The module calculates the swab or surge pressure attributed to the main 3 phenomenas involved with the pipe RIH/POOH:
1- The thixotropic gel breaking pressure required to initially move the pipe
2- The pipe pulling/running speed and induced steady/turbulent movement
3- The pipe acceleration induced pressure.
The module computes also the Equivalent Mud Density EMD for above pressures in addition to hydrostatic pressure.

Brine Calculation Module (scrollable screen)

The module calculates the brine density, percent of salt weight by weight of water , weight of salt per unit volume of water, brine volume factor for:
1- NaCl, Sodium Chloride.
2- KCL, Potassium Chloride.
3- NHCL4, Ammonium chloride.
4- CaCl2, Calcium chloride.

The module calculates also, the quantities of salts required to mix a specific volume of brine and the hydrostatic pressure of a specific column of brine.

Dilution/Weighting Calculation Module

The module calculates the volume of a lighter/heavier fluid required to dilute/weight a specific volume of mud or fluid.

Weighting Calculation Module

The module calculates the weight of a weighting agent required to increase the density of a fluid to a specific density. One of three weighting agents can be used to weight the fluid:
1- Barite
2- Hematite
3- Sand

The module calculates also, the quantities of weighting agent required to mix a specific volume of weighted fluid.

Well Profile Calculation Module (scrollable screen)

The module calculates the inner volume of an inner string and the outer volume between the inner string and previous casing/OH.

The inner string can be:
1- Tapered Drill pipe string with 2 sizes
2- Liner string run on DP
3- Tapered Tubing String with 2 sizes
4- Coiled Tubing String

The module outputs:
1- Annular volume
2- inner string capacity
3- Total capacity
4- Rat hole capacity if any

NOTE: The same module is used to enter the well profile for both “Well Control” and “Swab/Surge” modules.
