Description

*** iExit is now FREE for the rest of 2014! ***

iExit tells you what's at upcoming exits when you're on the highway. It uses your device's location to determine where you are on the highway, and then displays upcoming exits in real time.

iExit Search is powerful and dead simple. Search the next 100 exits for businesses (like Starbucks, Cracker Barrel, or KOA Campgrounds), amenities (like WiFi, Playground, or Truck Parking), rest stops, hotel deals, and much much more.

Your GPS will tell you how to get there. iExit will tell you where to stop along the way.

Don't believe iExit will change the way you travel? Ask The New York Times, USA Today, Consumer Reports, CNET, MacWorld, The Today Show, ABC News, and many more. Here's what CNN had to say about iExit:

"Do you have enough gas to wait until the next town? Is there a bathroom coming up any time soon? Need to buy a tent at Wal-Mart? The iExit app will tell you exactly what lies ahead."
- CNN.com

Don't take another road trip without iExit!

** Important Notes **
● Your device must have GPS hardware or a connection to the internet for iExit to display results based on your location.
● iExit is compatible with iOS 6.0 and later.
● iExit only works in the United States on major exit-based highways.
● Should you allow iExit to use your location in the background, it will only continue running in the background while you are driving on the highway and not while you are stopped. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

If you have a question or complaint about iExit, please reach out to us first at info@iexitapp.com before leaving a bad review here. We work incredibly hard to build you the best highway guide app in the App Store, and we value your feedback and will reply immediately. Thanks for using iExit!

What's New

Version 7.1.1 (Dec 09, 2014)

We've improved the Exit Details page, the page that lists all of the businesses at an exit. First off, we fixed a bug that caused this page to load slowly in the last version. Secondly, businesses are now grouped by type, meaning all Gas Stations are grouped together, all Food is grouped together, all Hotels are grouped together, and so on. The page is much cleaner and easier to use.

Remember, in the previous update, we made a big update to how iExit accesses your location in the background. The app will only retrieve your location in the background if you have explicitly told it to remind you of upcoming exits that you have marked as a Favorite. If you don't have any favorite exits, it will not run while in the background.

If you would like your business to stand out from the crowd in iExit, please contact us at advertise@iexitapp.com.

Happy road-tripping!

Version 7.0 (Oct 28, 2014)

iExit 7.0 is here and is fully iOS8 compatible.

- Full iOS8 compatibility, which means iExit now is updated for the new Locations Services changes in iOS8.
- iExit can now send you a background alert when you are approaching a favorite exit. This is each to turn on and off.
- iExit has rewritten the way it accesses your location in the background, making it more battery efficient. It will only access your location in the background if you tell it to alert you about an upcoming exit.
- Search has received a major boost in speed, making it quicker than ever to find what's at upcoming exits.
- If you would like to advertise your business in iExit (not just include it, but promote it), contact us at advertise@iexitapp.com

Happy road-tripping!

Version 6.6 (Sep 16, 2014)

Big update here!

** Exit Lookup Mode has been greatly improved **
- Search has now been applied to Exit Lookup Mode. This means you can now filter exits in Exit Lookup Mode by gas/food/etc, or by a particular business or amenity.
- If you're looking at I-65 in Tennessee in Exit Lookup Mode, it's now easy to navigate to the adjacent state to see I-65 in either Alabama or Kentucky.
- "View Nearby Highways" allows for easily looking ahead at exits while stopped at an exit. Just pull off at Exit 200 for lunch and want to plan your next stop 200 miles down the road? No problem.

** Other Improvements **
- Improved speed with searching exits ahead, as well as searching businesses around you when off the highway.
- Improved algorithm for determining if you are driving on the highway.
- Chain business location improvements.
- Some bug fixes.

Expand notes
Version 6.5 (Jun 27, 2014)

iExit 6.5 comes with a *complete* overhaul of its highway exit data. Improvements to the exit data include:

- We have added almost 100 highways to iExit, many of which are 3-digit interstates or non-interstate highways.
- We have greatly improved our rest area/service plaza data, particularly in the northeastern US.
- Previously exits had to belong to a single highway. Now exits belong to multiple highways, which is the case with merged highways. (e.g. I-75/I-85 "The Connector" through downtown Atlanta).
- We now display weigh stations as exits, where previously we displayed them as points of interest.

Though this version might not look much different than the previous version, this is a big update. The exit locations, their ordering, and their names/numbers have all been updated. Long story short, iExit just got a lot better.

Potentially the best part is that it is now much easier to add highways not currently found in iExit, so if you notice a missing highway, please let us know at data@iexitapp.com. We will have every exit-based highway in the United States added to iExit by the end of 2014.

As always, please email us at feedback@iexitapp.com if you have any comments or questions about iExit. Happy roadtripping!

Version 6.04 (Apr 20, 2014)

This is a small update serving 2 purposes:
- Improvement to our algorithm for determining when you are on/off the highway.
- Preparation for an upcoming nationwide update to our highway exit data.

If you have any questions or suggestions about iExit, please email us at info@iexitapp.com, and we'll get back within 24 hours. Thanks for using iExit!

Version 6.03 (Apr 07, 2014)

iExit 6.03
- Added/updated all 3,200 IHG hotels (Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Indigo, and more).
- A few minor bug fixes.

NOTE: If you are still experiencing the Location Arrow in the Status bar stay on even after closing iExit, this is an Apple bug. Here are the steps to fix it:

Open the Setting app, select "General", scroll down to select "Reset", select "Reset Location & Privacy", and then select "Reset Settings". This resets the location settings across all apps, and eliminates whatever is going wrong with Apple's location service. We're sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone's patience and feedback as we worked to figure out this issue.

Expand notes
Version 6.02 (Mar 27, 2014)

iExit 6.02:

We've addressed the issue where your Location Arrow remains on, even when iExit is closed. For most of you, updating to 6.02 will completely fix the problem. But as we've learned, a few of you are continuing to see the Location Arrow remain on.

If you are one of the unfortunate few continuing to see the Location Arrow remain in the Status Bar when the app is closed, even after updating to iExit 6.02, this is an Apple issue, not an iExit issue. Here are the steps to fix it:

Open the Setting app, select "General", scroll down to select "Reset", select "Reset Location & Privacy", and then select "Reset Settings". This resets the location settings across all apps, and eliminates whatever is going wrong with Apple's location service. We're sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone's patience and feedback as we've worked through this bizarre bug.

In addition to addressing this issue, we have also added a setting within iExit called Background Settings where you can take complete control of how iExit works in the background.

Thanks for using iExit! As always, please contact us at info@iexitapp.com with any questions or comments.

iExit 6.0:

iExit 6.0 is here and it is awesome. It comes with a clean, new look for iOS7, a widely expanded POI database, and a beautifully-redesigned Search experience.

For more details, keep reading.

● Search Overhaul:
Quickly searching for a business ("Starbucks", "Cracker Barrel", "Flying J", etc), an amenity ("Pet friendly", "WiFi", "24 Hours", etc) or a location ("Atlanta", "90210", etc) is beautifully simple now. Simply click Search and either A) type in whatever you are looking for or B) use one of our 25 Preset Searches, and see results at the next 100 upcoming exits. iExit still has Favorites, but you no longer need to set a business as your Favorite in order to search upcoming exits for it.

● New Look:
iExit has a beautiful new iOS7 look to it. Some components look the same, just with refreshed looks, while others have been completely redesigned. We promise you're going to love it.

● New Data:
iExit point-of-interest data has been greatly expanded in this update to where we now have museums, hospitals, vets, RedBox locations, as well as improvements to our already-existing data set. This update represents a massive POI data improvement; our next big update will include a massive Exit/Rest Area location database improvement.

● New Features:
We have added several new features, such as:
- Google Streetview for POIs.
- The ability to tell us if we should add/update/remove businesses at exits.
- Improved ability to plan your next driving stretch while pulled off at an exit. See "View Exits Ahead and Behind Closest Exit".

Version 6.01 (Mar 10, 2014)

iExit 6.01:

- We've fixed the bug resulting in a black screen that appears sometimes when users launch the app. This is fixed for both iPhone and iPad users.

- Regarding "Location is always running in the background" complaints, when you completely close iExit, it does not access your location. No app on your iPhone/iPad can access your location when it's closed.

When iExit is in the background, it will stop using your GPS device and instead will get location updates every few miles when you switch between cell towers (assuming your device has a cell plan). iExit grabs the location associated with the new cell tower so that we can keep iExit up to date upon your return. This requires extremely little power, and so iExit 6.0 and later is much easier on your battery than any previous version. To stop iExit from accessing your location whatsoever, just close it from the background.

- Several data updates, including the addition of many new truck-friendly businesses.

- Various data related updates

Version 4.2. Lots of good stuff here!

- When Background Alerts are enabled, Location Services will turn off automatically when in the background if either 1) your location hasn't changed in a while or 2) you exit the interstate. This will improve battery life.
- Fixed the data issue where some points of interest were missing in the New England area.
- Widened the Map limits so that you can zoom out farther and still see pushpins instead of the "Too Zoomed Out" message.
- Fixed bug when trying to submit a new suggestion through UserVoice.
- Fixed bug with background alerts not showing when they're supposed to.

SUPPORT UPDATE:
- Ended support for iOS 4.0 and 4.1. iExit now requires iOS4.2 or later (which 99% of our users have anyways)
