Version 6.1 (Aug 19, 2010)

UPDATE NOTE
When first launched after updating, files stored in this application will be reorganized to allow for Shared Files access. This will only happen once, and may take a few minutes if you have a very large number of pictures. Although you can exit and restart later, it is recommended that you allow this process to complete the first time.

Before updating, be aware that because of increased security in version 6, the application may not work if you alter the system keychain or other system or application files, and support cannot be provided in that situation.

Without your purchases and reviews, maintaining this application would not be possible for me as an independent developer.

This is the biggest update since version 1 was released in 2008, and I want to thank you for using this application.

Version 6.0 (Aug 12, 2010)

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE UPDATING

When updating to version 6, there is a delay the first time the application is launched while the update is applied.

The delay was not noticeable in testing, but unfortunately some people with very large picture libraries are seeing longer delays that in some cases cause the application to take too long to start up. It is then terminated by iOS.

When a user reported the problem, I submitted version 6.1 to Apple August 13th, the day after version 6.0 was released. Version 6.1 provides more information while updating and fixes the startup issue for those users.

As of August 18th, I am still waiting for Apple to complete their review. Once the update is available, the process should complete successfully, and all original pictures will be available as long as you have not removed the application or application data.

- Improves high definition zoom with dramatic quality improvements on Retina displays.
- Pictures and notes protected with hardware based encryption on compatible devices.
- Adds copy of pictures to clipboard and single or multiple paste into folders.

- New unlock graphic and sound.
- Adds more options in settings.

UPDATING AND BACKUPS
It is very important that you DO NOT delete applications before updating. If you do, you will lose all application data! Just install from the App Store and your current application will be updated.

Always have a current backup before updating. This happens automatically when you sync with iTunes if the "Sync Applications" option is selected. I recommend updating from your device. If there is a problem updating any application, you can just delete it from your device and sync. The application will be restored along with any data.

If you are not doing this, and are worried at all about losing information in any of your applications, you should stop reading and backup your device now. It is no fun for anybody when I receive a support email from the 1 out of 1000+ users where something unpredictable went wrong and they have no backup of their pictures. At that point, there is nothing I can do except recommend reinstalling the application.

5.0 UPDATE NOTES

The following applies only if you did NOT already update to version 5.0 or later:

This is a significant update. Please read these notes.

PASSWORD RESET
Fixes a problem that locked out some users after an incorrect password was entered more than 13 times in a row. Adds the ability to do a master password reset without losing pictures. You will be asked to enter a new password the first time you start the application after updating. If you had previously set a decoy password, you will need to set that again.

DATABASE UPDATE
When starting the application, your database will be updated. This will only happen once, and must be completed before you can use the application. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but it has been a year since I implemented the original data storage. I am upgrading internally to Core Data for improved reliability and performance with very large image libraries. Although you may press the Home button to exit during the upgrade, it is strongly recommended that you allow the process to finish completely the first time, because I have received a handful of reports of problems restarting the upgrade.

PRIVATE VIDEO
Private Video is available in the App Store and is currently a free application. Tap the info button on the main view to see available apps.

If you are happy with this release, please update your review and recommend to your friends.

UPDATE
I have received a handful of support requests regarding pictures not appearing after the upgrade. Based on these, I would always recommend you have a current backup before upgrading any application. This is performed automatically if you sync with iTunes, and will easily allow you to restore your pictures if there is an unanticipated problem with your device.

Thank you!
