Great idea, very poor execution
This app frequently crashes. When this happens and you relaunch it, your progress since you last saved it has been lost. Open a saved file, and the window title is just “Font Picker” instead of the file you’ve opened. This is confusing. Save the file again, and it prompts you to give a file name and location where to save it, instead of recognizing that you’re saving a file you’ve already opened — save the same file and it will ask if you’d like to replace the old version. Of course you want to — you’re trying to save your progress. Very annoying. Mac apps should be better than this.
This app cuts my font-picking time in half (at least). It's super easy to use, does what it says, and works every time. The one small negative, to me, is that you can't categorize your fonts first. It would be nice to be able to view only sans serif, Christimas, or calligraphy fonts, for example. On the whole, still totally earns 5 starts from me. Thanks for a great app!
How did I ever get by without this?!
I have hundreds of fonts on my Mac. This helps me sift through them SO MUCH faster than what I was doing before.TIP: Select a font you like; then push shift and click on another to select a second one. Lather, rinse, repeat. Then click "crop" to get rid of the rest. So simple! So elegant!Thank you, Richard Garside! Big hug!
I like it a lot
This is a really handy app to have. Like another review; I would like to have the ability to have favorites for different styles of fonts. None the less, I enjoy having it and it helps me to find that right font amongst all of my fonts.
Simple & useful!
This app does exactly what it says. When I'm designing, I like to type in a phrase and pick the font that looks the best -- this is perfect for that. Saving the selections as a PDF is genius because I can send the PDF to clients for approval on the fonts. The only reason I didn't give this five stars is because it would be GREAT to have a simple "Favorites" or "Favorite Sets" option. Wherein one could "Save" various sets of favorite fonts - like a "handwritten set" and an "art deco set", etc.But overall - it's simple and fantastic!
