Very helpful learning aid when it works.
I love using this app to practice my hiragana and katakana. The only problem is that it constantly quits unexpectedly. This happens on both of my macs. I would give it 5 stars, otherwise.
Great for reviewing
I've owned this app for a while now. It's auto-advance feature is great.
For $0.99, not bad.
I really like the simple design and the range of kan'ji that the program has, but I think that if users were allowed to create their own study lists in addition to the ones provided. That way, students can study along with their specific class. Also, I agree with the English translation and reading selection suggestions. Other than that, this is a good product with a lot of potential.
Not bad for $0.99 - agree that the English translations should also be included - here are some other suggestions for improvements.Allow for options to show just the character, the character plus the On, Kun, the character plus the English translation, or all together. These options should be available for automatic display as well as the current hide answer/show answer option that is currently required to move through the cards. Finally, allow for a discard file that one could place cards that one feels have been already mastered. This way study can be limited to particular kanji in each grade that one needs further work, rather than having to work through all the kanji when some have already been mastered.
Does not provide the meanings for the characters or character compounds.
