Just bought and like the idea but...
I do wish it converted text from the site to text in Photoshop. Right now, it just grabs the text as an image. I bought it thinking I’d get to grab html tables on my website with text and be able to edit the text in photoshop. and thought it’d work but turns out, it doesn’t. Otherwise, looks pretty cool.
Absolutely indispensable. Needed to submit a PSD when I already had the html
Today I had to convert a finished Muse html site into a set of PSD layers for my client’s template-based hosting service. I realize this sounds quite backwards, but I used Muse to create a quick, comprehensive “live" mockup on Business Catalyst for approval. But to hand the work over to the host developers, I was faced with the agony and irony of having to re- or should I say de-construct all the pages into PSD layers so they could rebuild the site their way. I literally found this app JUST in time TODAY! Page Layers is now doing in minutes what I’ve been dreading for weeks. Including text layers! Absolutely awesome!
Stellar! A Must have for Graphic & UI Designers & Multi-talented Freelancer and
UPDATED REVIEW (March 7, 2015): Still completely awesome. It is nearly magical that Page Layers just with in seconds everytime just converts a website to an extremely well organized and very layered psd. Separating body layers from text, text from images and so on and so on. This app is just priceless. I’ve also had it for quite some time. I want to say going on 2 years now and I’ve never experienced a bug. Oh, and support. I just emailed Ralf and within 2 blinks of an eye he responded!!! Not every author is cool and quick as their plugins and products, but Ralf defintely is! PREVIOUS REVIEW (October 24, 2014): Page Layers is a beast at capturing web pages and sorting them into layers in photoshop and within seconds too! A very priceless tool to any web designer, graphic designer, etc.
As web designer this saved me a ton of time not having to rebuild an entire site in photoshop based off of a working prototype I made just to make one little change. I was going to complain that there was no live text option but I see there is. AWESOME… if you can get the live text to function better I have no other desires except for maybe capturing rollover/hover states somehow.
Really good, but it would be great if ...
At first I didn’t think I would use it as much as I thought I would, but now I find myself using it quite often during the day. It does a greeat job of capturing all the elements on a page, but it also grabs a lot of useless stuff too. I guess this is more a prosecution of the way some developers code than what a designer creates. Ideally, I would love to see if you could capture the entire font suites used on a site so that we can keep it editable. In addition, it would be nice if you could convert background images into editable vector shapes instead of rasterized layers.Other than that, I think this is a great tool for what it’s meant to do.
