Nothing works properly - save your money. Print screens are non-functional; help guide cumbersome and useless. Money wasted!
Not useful for me
The app does some interesting things, but not for me. I thought I could filter out duplicate rows in a table, but I was not able to, so it isn't what I need.
Experimental, unpolished, but you may find it useful
I bought this app because I needed a lightweight tool to edit a decent-sized CSV file containing mostly text in columns and I wasn't happy using Numbers or Excel. I'm happy to say this app is meeting my most basic needs and I'm working around the limitations okay, so if that's all you want, you may find this software useful. Performance scrolling through 7000 rows is good, the search feature instantly filters the rows as one might expect (although it's not clear how flexible this filtration actually is) and keyboard navigation basically works within the table. So, I'm getting my work tedious work done with these basic features of the app.Stepping back to evaluate the product as a whole, it seems a bit of mess. A big part of the feature set of this app seems to be imposing visual treatments on the cells ("Decorations"). I am not in a position to evaluate those features. As a CSV editor, its ability to manipulate columns (filling them, changing them, formatting/conforming the data) is limited to non-existent. There's some kind of bizarre filter UI below the table, but it's not really discoverable and you can tell at a glance it's poorly conceived. The UI is populated with bizarre, stylized icon designs for no conceivable reason other than somebody was feeling arty, which is a textbook example of not understanding when the rules should be broken. Strange omissions abound: for example, the app provides a reasonably complete process for importing different kinds of delimited files, yet provides zero export flexibility: you can export a tab-delimited file or a semicolon-delimited file. What?!Overall, this version of Tabulo feels more like a programmer's experiment than a fully-realized app. The underlying performance of the software seems solid enough, which is promising, but the UI design, the feature set, and the identity of the product need a lot of work.
Wait for the next update
The concept for this program is pretty good, but the implimentation isn't great. There are some problems, There are only 3 data types, date, text and numbers. Other useful data types aren't there: such as TIME, lists, email, currency, phone numbers, postal codes, address, url..., they "don't see what advantage it would bring". These have to be entered as text. Under the number data type there is duration, which is which can be used for military time and a check box, which I assume is 1 or 0. There is a bug in the program, when you enter the date, it swaps the month and day; eg: 1/10/11 is changed to 10/1/11, every time. I emailed the Tabulo people and got a helpful response, to some of my concerns but they didn't comment on this bug. There are some hidden features, such as saving sorts or filters, and multiple filters by column, that I didn't know about until they email me the information. The "decorations" are a big feature of the program, (I think it gets in the way) but I really can't see using the graphics they provide, they're not my taste, but you can make your own, another hidden feature.I also find the lack of row hight adjustment a problem. If you don't need to enter notes or sentences it's okay.I was going to give it 3 stars but the lack of "time" data type and the "date" bug are so annoying, I broke down and bought Bento 4 that just came out.
Can't adjust row height or leave comments for each section
I got this because i was looking for an app where i can document some of my favoritee bible verses and attach my own meditations/comments to each one. This app looked like a good idea. However, I think the following changes would take this app to the next level:1. Adjustable row height. Right now it is fixed so I can only see one line of text per cell. I would like to see text wrapped and cell extened to fit text. 2. Show all contents of each cell. It looks like there was more pasted in the row, but I could not see or edit what was above the visible line of text, though i could delete some of it blindly.3. Ability to apply comments/notes to EACH cell, as opposed to one comment/note per list.4. Customizable color formatting. The themes are nice, but it would be great to be able to add your own color gradient as a background, or use an image of your choosing and adjust transparency. The concept is good but it is not completely user friendly yet. I am interested to see how they develop this app. I should've waited to purchase it.
