Inexpensive and gets the job done
This review is a pleasure to write. I needed scalable UPC-A barcodes in a hurry for a product labeling project. Found this on the app store for 2 bucks and it solved my problem within 10 minutes. Sure, there are a lot more feature-packed programs out there for a lot more money, but this program does the one thing I needed and does it well. Worked for me.
Simply did not work for me. I entered data in the fields and nothing appears in the preview. Thinking perhaps jus the preview was not working I exported and the exported file is a blank white square. Bummer.
It doesn't do much...
…but it does what I need it to do, and perfectly well enough.
This is a very simple UPC-A generateor and it does what it says.you might want to consider something more complicated (and much more $$) if you are looking for something that has more function and controls. But for general consumer product UPC this is just fine. changing the format and size is not a big issue for graphic designer.
Simple, workable utility
Just downloaded this app to replace Barcode Pro. The app only does UPC-A which is ok for my needs as a consumer products packaging designer. It's usable, just not a lot of options, features and functions. Not bad for the price.PROS:• Very simple, very easy to use. Automatically generates check digits.• Exports to .eps. (important to me) and a couple other file formats.• Produces accurate UPC code. I compared it directly to a code generated by Barcode Pro. In .eps, bars are vector outlines.• Very low cost.CONS:• Awkward sizing function; numbers 1 to 10, not percentages. No reference to what dimensions the code actually is. Doesn't work well.• Bar color can be specified, but only using RGB. No function for specifying CYMK or PMS spot color. However, the .eps file can be opened in Illustrator and changed to CYMK or PMS colors. Inconvenient, but workable.•Does not automatically name the exported file the same as the code number. You must name the file manually. A little inconvenient.
