ColourSwirl (the ColourSwirl colour selector) is an tool for designers and developers of apps and websites etc.
for creating and maintaining colours.
Colours can be selected using both a list of named HTML colours, and/or a swirl of colour swirling out from a centre colour.
You can select from 345 named HTML colours, which you can sort in a variety of ways (default, in groups based on the colour names, and nearness to another colour). Complementrary colours can be easily added.
The swirl page lets you display a snapshot of the colour cube, centered on your selected colour.
You can then change your selection, by clicking on a new colour in the swirl, by adjusting the red, green, or blue, or by moving to or away from another colour.
You can fine tune the swirl by changing the zoom, perspective (6 standard directions plus to or away from another colour), canvas size and granularity.
The swirl page allows you to move through the colour cube as slowly or quickly as you like, with the swirl display keeping up as best it can - as it is swirling out from the centre the nearest colours are drawn first.
ColourSwirl comes with a rich set of options for fine tuning your experience, including options for tile size, and what to display on the tiles (name, hex value or nothing).
The hex values of your colours can be exported to a text file.
