Industrial Strength File Transfers
If you need a really reliable way to copy files from one drive to another then this is your app. This isn’t a pretty Mac UI app to replace finder level copying, but something you pull out when you are doing important large data transfers. In my case moving several Terrabytes of family photos to a new drive, or when Disk Utility tells you your drive is readable, but not writeable and you need to copy the good files off. If you’ve ever started a large file copy, walked off to only come back to message that the Mac needs to know if it should replace or skip an item you’ll be thrilled to know that RapidCopy will keep transferring all the other items, as well as giving you options on what if situations. Rapid Copy is a huge leap over the Mac Finder’s simple threaded file copy scheme. The steps: Drag/drop source and destination. Choose copy type: Difference, Sync, Move, Verify and Delete Estimating - a qucik check on how long it should take. Options for ACL (Permissions), EA (if you want your Mac metadata attributes like label colors) and LTFS (if you are backing up to tape instead of a SSD/HDD). Once you hit Execute you get: Remain - gives estimate in time and percentage (both are useful). File Transfer errors change the file path highlite color to yellow and then updates the error log on the bottom. My feature requests: - Make the Log exportable (you can copy/paste) - Make the Log easier to read with color flags. - Show Source and Destination properties (i.e. drive type, formatting, free disk space, etc). - Have presets so users can setup specific job copies - Make the app Apple Scriptable (maybe it is, but didn’t see it mentioned) - Create a RapidCopy PopClip extension to make invoking the app easier - Create a plugin for CocoaTech’s PathFinder to use RapidCopy for copy/paste file transfers as an option Keep up the great work. This is a wonderful full strength app that will save users countless hours on large file transfers.
