“Ecoute Is The Best Music Player For iOS. Period.” - MacStories.
Ecoute for iOS is an alternative player using your existing musical library. It sports a clean and elegant
interface, revolves around gestures to help you control your music quickly, and integrates Twitter, Facebook, and
Last.fm so you can share your favorites tracks.
It enhances your control over the music by adding more options like 'shuffle by albums', 'play next' and 'add up next'.
Moreover, Ecoute offers the ability to manage the now playing queue. Add songs on the go and reorganize your tracks with ease!
The user interface automatically switches into night mode as the brightness of the screen decreases. You can also force the night mode if the default UI doesn't fit you.
Ecoute supports AirPlay and iTunes Match. Metadata like Play counts, and last played dates are synchronised.
Available filters are Artists, Albums, Composers, Genres, Playlists, Compilations, Songs, and Audiobooks.
** IMPORTANT **:
Music.app needs to be installed for Ecoute to works properly.
Avoid. Apple Music is now better than ecoute, not because it added features but because ecoute has not fixed bugs which piled up through iOS updates. ecoute is uncommunicative on these issues and it is not clear whether it is still being maintained. Ecoute hasn’t been a “beautiful music player” since about iOS 9 or 10. A great developer apparently left this app in care of a “friend” and as a result this has lost functions every year since 2015. Developer doesn’t answer email, Twitter or any channel. Why do people do this?I reached out to the new “author” on Twitter, who apparently inherited this from a friend, has only added a few things which he wants and has allowed most all l of the major functionality to become badly broken. The filters, play lists etc don’t work unless you kill the app and restart. Starting Apple Music and killing it often, but not always, gets eCoute working again. It is really a shame as this was the best iOS music player ever.Ecoute was the only great alternative to Apple Music during the decade of disintegration of the iOS Apple Music app. Now, the Apple Music App is just barely good enough for the job and ecoute’s better features seldom function correctly. Sadly you need to start and stop the Apple Music app at times to keep ecoute working. Developer is non-communicative and there is no way to know if it is still under support, let alone active development. If ecoute returns to its former glory I will be the very first to restore it to five stars. Until then the free Apple Music app is a better alternative. Hopefully ecoute will address the bugs which I and others have reported but I doubt it with no developer response whatsoever.

I had always used Ecouté as my default music player - much easier for me to use than the Apple music app - but after I updated from iOS 12 to 14, launching the app only brings up a white screen. I’ve been able to reload the app and use it on first launch, but then only get a blank screen again. Highly recommended if you have an older iOS installed, or when the developer is able to fix this issue.

I can’t really give this an honest review, because I can’t test the functionality. The search bar is too high on the screen, and makes it impossible to navigate easily.

For owned songs it’s better than Apple Music. Appealing interface, simple. It’s a pain trying to play songs that I own through the Apple Music app.But sheezus, would you please update this thing?

This was my go to music app for years but apparently it is not being updated and now longer functions on the latest iOS updates.
