I already signed up The Economist, but why does each article have an ad asking me to sign up The Economist? The most annoying thing is that it’s so easy to click the ad inadvertently while scrolling and reading an article, it then opens a browser, which totally destroys my reading experience.

The content and reporting from the Economist is top notch as usual. However a new ad system was implemented where a simple touch of an ad will force the advertisement content to open in my default browser. They have been set to be overly sensitive and don’t discriminate vs a tap with intent and one that’s simply just to scroll further down the page. This has created a horrendous user experience as I’m constantly having to switch back to the app after ungraciously been redirected to an ad I have no interest in. This is a recent issue, where they began by showing advertisements for their own offerings. And now I assume after compiling the rigged conversion rates to be able to pitch to advertisers ad space they are showcasing external third party ads.

If you have to choose only one news source ... this is it.

The Economist is THE news outlet for being informed without getting too emotionally charged. They avoid verbose hyperbole while also being sure to avoid making grand assumptions based on directional leanings; this they allow the reader to determine at their own discretion. A great variety of topics by sensational journalists harbored worldwide. The perfect combination of brevity and depth. A sensational outlet that I have been reading for almost a decade, starting in late high school. Not too esoteric for younger readers or otherwise-specialized academics. Sign up!

... The Economist (Legacy) app is much easier to use if you like to read the weekly edition of the magazine.
