Super Transcoder is a simple video transcoding tool that is surprisingly fast. It supports the transcoding of MP4 and MOV files encoded using Apple ProRes 422, 444 and H.264 codecs. Support for MPG, MTS and TS formats is available if running Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan.
We built this utility to quickly re-encode movie files with specific settings that enhance their use in performance analysis software workflows. Often, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC movie files that are recorded in the latest video cameras have wide keyframe intervals. While this is helpful in reducing file size and keeping quality high, it can hinder the seek-ability characteristics of the movie file, particularly smooth rewinding. Transcoding these files using a shorter key frame interval can greatly increase the seek-ability characteristics of the movie file. Super Transcoder allows you to set the keyframe interval to increase performance in this area.
Super Transcoder offers custom presets including folder destination for the files being passed through the preset. And batch processing is another key feature allowing you to add groups of files with unique presets to the transcoding queue while it is active.
System Requirements: OS X 10.9.2 or later, 4GB of RAM (8GB recommended for 4K). OpenCL-capable graphics card or Intel
HD Graphics 3000 or later, 256MB of VRAM (1GB recommended for 4K). 5MB of disk space.
We strongly recommend OS X 10.11 or later to gain the full compliment of codecs supported by Apple.
