App Annie Brings You More Usage Data & Acquires Mobidia

It’s with great excitement that I share with you today, the latest updates on our Usage Intelligence product and the most recent additions to the App Annie team. This morning, we announced the release of our Usage Intelligence product for general availability, following its beta release in January. We also announced the acquisition of Mobidia, a leading mobile measurement company, that will bring great innovation and the most expansive global usage dataset on the market to the App Annie team.

I’d like to take a moment to explain how we view acquisitions like this as part of our commitment to empowering the people changing the world through apps, and expanding the mobile app data market. Five years ago, when I co-founded App Annie, there was almost no meaningful insight into who was using apps and how they were using them. Since then, App Annie has always been at the forefront of mobile trends, and we realized early on that usage tracking would become an essential component for developers — thus, the introduction of Usage Intelligence to complement our Store Intelligence and Audience Intelligence offerings. Combining Mobidia’s data with ours accelerates the development of Usage Intelligence, allowing us to provide you with the largest app usage dataset and the deepest insight into the two billion smartphone users worldwide.

Mobidia is a pioneer in its own right, offering global mobile app usage data in 2012, and has since grown into a company that offers usage data and insights on hundreds of thousands of apps worldwide. The product is a natural complement to our Usage Intelligence solution, and we’re excited to welcome them into the company as our 12th global office, App Annie Vancouver. Together, we combine the industry’s two largest datasets into Usage Intelligence to become the only mobile usage provider offering both current and historical data across millions of users in 60 countries on iOS and Android.
