Mac won’t recognize it
My MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2011, OS S 10.9.1 (13842)) keeps questioning this app, saying it was downloaded from the internet, when in fact I got it here at the Mac App Store. I like it a lot, except it's very annoying to have to keep saying, yes, I want to open the file in TextPad. I’d sure like a cure for that.
Excellent but missing one Excellent Feature
Its missing a favorite OS feature for documents and that is being able to click the filename at the top of the document title bar and be able to update filename and change locations. This feature does not take away from its simplicity but adds a lot of value to workflow.
Opens directly to the editor
Opens quickly to the editor, rather than a file browser first. It's like how TextEdit used to work before the iCloud integration, which added an extra step to what had been a beautifully minimal app. 1 step is always better than 2. Beauty is back!Note: I tried Notepad and works like the above, but file extensions to be shown by default, which is not so elegant. While it’s possible to disable those per file, it’s not possible to bulk suppress those via preferences. It’s for this reason that I moved on and found this app.
Simple text editor that works well
It’s just a simple text editor, which is exactly what I was looking for.Really like that it opens fairly quickly with a blank new document (no file or iCloud open screen). Also great that it closes very quickly and gives me a preference for whether I want it to prompt me to save the file or not. Thanks for this great program.
