I have Defense zone on my PowerBook (PB) and my iMac. My PB is 5 y/o and my iMac is 3 y/o. Both were the highest end computers at the time of purchase. I can beat this game on my PB, but on my iMac, it is very hard and I am still trying to beat it! I am not sure why. The only difference is my PB isn't as powerful as my iMac and maybe the game is "smarter" being able to process faster! (Duo-Core vs Quad-Core, faster RAM, ext) I've seen advanced programing in games like that before. The faster your computer, the smarter the AI gets. Both games have been upgraded to this current version. Both of my computer are running OS X 10.6.8. Anyway, I like the game, but Defense zone 2 is much better. It is also a very hard game, but I have beat it on both of my Mac computers and my iPad. I rate it 3 for being unbalanced, but I like it anyway! :) Checkout Defense zone 2 & Sentinel 3: Homeworld.
I love this game! Great colors and cool sounds. You can be busy with other stuff and still play!
the Program crashes and will not open
bought this game and It keeps crashing. can play it very frustrating
Good But Some Flaws
Overall the graphics and strategy element are very good. The sound effects are awesome. However this game is marred by some usability issues, mostly pertaining to the saving of levels. Example: if you get to level 15 on the Difficult mode with all 20 of your health… you can't save multiple games if you decide to try to keep going after losing 5 health, and if you save, quit, then come back to the game and accidentally hit "Play" instead of "Continue" (which is how you pick up a saved game), your saved game will be permanently lost. So, the ability to save more than 1 version of a game (with names) and the ability to make those saves permanent / loadable at any time, is a basic necessity that's missing. More minor issues: Also I think the grids where you place different types of weapons should be finer / allowing more placement positions when items are next to one another. Other flaws include vehicles that run over top of one another when the ones in front are being "frozen", and a couple pretty unrealistic items like when a huge artillery gun hits a partially disabled tank or APC, it keeps driving (no way that should be the case), and a rocket only kills one man when it should kill 2 or 3 each time it hits. Otherwise though a very cool game. Version 2 is also cool and has basically the same flaws. Hopefully the developer will address them in an update. Definitely worth the $4 though.Feature request: Aside from better save/load features, the ability to plant land mines that when triggered can blow up 2-3 vehicles close by, would be cool.
4 stars for the game, 1 for the update
The game itself is good tower defense, and the game seems to run fine since I updated it. Except for the fact that it erased all of my progress with the update.Since I already beat all the levels, I don't mind starting over that much. But if you're still working your way through, DO NOT UPDATE.
