Elder Sign: Omens drains my battery incredibly quickly (I can maybe play it for an hour to 90 minutes from full battery to empty). For comparison, I can play Baldur’s Gate for 3-4 hours on a full charge, which is a game that SHOULD cause greater load on both GPU and CPU.The animations get annoying really quickly and make the game play feel slow. I can’t tell what the option to disable animations does… I haven’t noticed any changes since I toggled it.There are a number of bugs. The spells that let you save glyphs can save any number of glyphs, not the 1 or 2 they are meant to let you save. With all the other problems, I’m also skeptical about the randomness of glyphs. I get definite clumps of glyphs coming up. I’ll see for example, peril glyphs with very high frequency, then they’ll almost disappear from the game for a while.Fix the issues, especially batter drain, and let me disable the animations in favour of abrupt immediate transitions, and I’d probably give the game 5 stars.
I'm a fan of Fantasy Flight Publishing's ARKHAM HORROR board game, and the style is similar. This is a great game, graphics are pretty, audio is subtle and eerie, EXCELLENT voice acting, and solid replay value.
pretty, love the horror theme
This game makes me "insane", lol. Graphics, Sound all good. Love the HP Lovecraft Horror theme. Bottom line this game is just too hard. Sure I dont expect to win every game or even most of them. But, this game is so hard, I have not only never won, but typically I cant even win a single so called Adventure during a game. Each investigator gets on turn per game "day" then things get harder, more negative effects start acruing with each "day" passed. Sure the Investigators have some nice abilities but the bottom line is Adventures require too many different combinations and too many Glyphs period, you only get to roll 6. Most Adventures need at least 4 to 6 or more to finish. Since there are 6 possible glyphs you are rolling for the odds of getting what you need are very, very slim. Yes, once you get some "Clues" as far as I am concerned the best item in the game, at least you can get a couple re-rolls before you have to start sacking some. But clues cost Trophies and the "Curator" nightly event steals all your trophies before you can even spend. So if you want to start to get ahead, you pretty much have to solve his Adventure first. For me this makes the game totally linear and amounts to little fun. Sure wish I had my money back, this could have been a ""great" game with a little more balance like a more gllyphs per roll, perhaps and ease back the number of glyphs required to solve each Adventure, trade stuff between Invesigators and lose the darn Curator Adventure completely… I dunno, but this game needs balance, I recommend spend your $7 on something less frustrating...
Great Update, Great Expansion, bug fixed!!
The recent update tweaks the user interface slightly, making things more convenient for the player. The new expansion, "The Dark Pharaoh", is fantastic, with a 3-part adventure that is difficult without being torturous, or cheap (looking at YOU, Ithaqua) . Allies are an AWESOME addition to play, and if a later update or expansion put some allies (and lingering effects, if you must) into all adventures, I would be very happy with that update/expansion.
No longer works.
After downloading the latest update, Elder Signs no longer works on my Macbook Pro. I start it up and all I get is a blank screen, though I can hear the music. It used to work fine, but, for some reason, now it doesn't. Really bummed because I liked this game.
