LifeFlix works where iMovie and Mac have failed
I thought all my 8mm and MiniDV concert tapes were lost. But thanks to this little app I am able to import in the background (with the sound off) then do my editing later in iMovie. When I try to import direct into iMovie the tape always unsyncs with the audio/video and its just a mess. LifeFlix is where it’s @. also I needed a Thunderbolt to firewire adaptor but that was easy.
Could not work better
This works for me perfectly, without any flaws, hiccups or hangups. It saved me hundreds of dollars not having to send my old tapes to a professional service. iMovie, on the other hand, hardly worked at all. What a lifesaver!
App hangs at end of tape
One bug is making it too frustrating to continue using. 60% of the time, when the import gets to the end of a tape the app hangs. All but the final 2 clips are imported, but something is corrupted in the files such that I cannot get it to combine the clips back into a single file. A 2nd or 3rd try will sometimes succeed but each attempt is an hour long experiment. Not worth the hassle until they fix it.
Nice Program…Good Support !!
This is a good program with a simple to use interface as well as it doing what you expect it to. I had a problem upgrading to the Pro version properly and the Support guys were very firendly and helpful. It’s obvious these guys are in it for the long term…nice work !!
Easy to use, but imported sound is flawed
I purchased this program because it seemed very easy to use and it is. Unfortunately, the audio imported contains clicks and static runs that seem to correspond to the overscan bars at the bottom of the screen. I understand the presence of the overscan lines at the bottom of the screen. It’s the static I can’t live with. This occured on multiple tapes and on two diffeiernt computers making the application unusable for me. One of the computers is a 2.8 GHz i7 MacBook Pro with 16GB of RAM and an all solid state drive, so I know it shouldn’t be a resource issue. The static is not on the original tape and does not appear when the same tape is imprted using either iMovie or Roxio Toast. So for now, I’m using a much more complicated workflow.
