I like the graphics but it is incredibly short. If it was longer it would defenatly get 5 stars from me. Other than that it is worth the price though.
Bottom rank for amanita design games
Samorost 2 is at the bottom of the list for me out of the three games that are available from Amanita Design. I'm fast becoming a fan of Amanita Design games. They are consistently unique with great animation and sounds. While Samorost 2 does have cute animation along with a cute story and neat sounds, it is quite short and is not as explorative or intriguing as Machinarium or Botanicula--both of which I would highly recommend and are worth their price. It is clear that this game was created before the other two, and I do not think it is worth the price. If you are wanting an interesting game with a unique look and atmosphere go with Bontanicula or Machinarium.
Creative but ridculously fustrating
As usual Amanita produced another creative game but this one is way too fustrating. The gameplay is inconsitent, the puzzles often don't make sense, and there are no hints.
Poor Game Design
Let me start off by saying that I really wanted to like Samorost. But the game ends up being more about clicking at random until you find the intented target, and often the intended target is small and sort of buried in the graphics of everything else. Once you get the right target, you don't feel like you have cleverly figured out your way to a puzzle but rather that you randomly stumbled upon the game designer's preference for where you should click. Many of the solutions don't really have an underlying logic to them, and end up being more about click on the right arbitrary spots at the right time.Secondly, obviously because the designer failed to update the game from the flash version, you have to remember the key words at the beginning of each level, otherwise you have to restart from the beginning. Seriously? There is no point to this, just bad design. Finally, the ending of the game is the most furiating. You have to tediously collect gas which is based off split-second timing, and then try to refuel the ship by hitting a narrow window. It took me 3 attempts to suceed in it, after each of which you must go back through the same tedious sequence. Also, if you don't realize the game wants you to pick up the balloon first, you can waste time at the mountain where you have no idea why you're not suceeding. I've played games with challenging puzzles that are rewarding when you accomplish them. This game does the opposotie, it makes you angry that you wasted time clicking on the arbitrary solution. Maybe the designer should lay off that pipe that is referenced.Style over substance.
GREAT GAME.. JUST WAY TOO SHORT.
GREAT GAME! I JUST WISH IT WAS LONGER! BEAUTIFUL, FUN, GREAT ADVENTURE.. I HOPE THE NEXT GAME BY AMANITA DESIGN IS A LOT LONGER. I'M HOPING THEY ALSO MAKING A LONGER PART 2 TO MACHINARIUM (SUPER FUN BRAIN TEASER, ADVENTURE, GAME).
